April 25th earthquake and its aftershocks had changed the lifestyles of people residing at Mahalxmisthan, Bhaktapur too. People were compelled to live in an open space in Tents. Beside that, Monsoon season was also near and the tents would not remain life-long by the storm and rain. That's why, they were desperately in need of shelter to live. So, JAFS / AFS - Nepal aimed to construct Temporary Houses to most affected earthquake victims of our previous site - Mahalxmisthan, Bhaktapur where we had "Meal Feeding Programs". Almost all of the people went back to their own home after the occurrence of flood while others lived on rental houses but the left-ones still didn't have anywhere to go.
So, focusing on them we started to build Temporary Houses.
At Nalinchok - Chitapol, Bhaktapur:
At Sudal, Bhaktapur:
By far, we are able to build four Temporary Houses with the help of local residents. Plan No. 1 is at Nalinchok - Chitapol, Plan No. 2 is at Old Jagati - Bhaktapur, Plan No. 3 is at suryabinayak, Bhaktpaur and Plan No. 4 is at Sudal, Bhaktapur. The size of Temporary Houses is 832 sq. feet in which the room is divided into 208 sq. feet; for 4 rooms (i.e. 1 room per family).
"The reason behind building One Temporary House for 4 different families is to build unity among them," AFS - Nepal Project Coordinator, Mr. Om Krishna Tandukar says.
