In this school we gave copies and pen for all the students and also school uniform for those students who were badly affected from the earthquake.

Mahankal Primary School 

We distributed stationary items and school uniform to all the students and also noodles. We took classes for the students about earthquake i.e what to do and what not to do. We played also in other to divert their mind.

Emergency Response to Bhotsipa, Sindhpalchok District

       Bhotsipa is a village in Sindhupalchok District in Bagmati zone of the central Nepal. Like most of the other areas in Nepal, this district is also listed as an under developed area.It may be noted that Sindhupalchok was worst hit by 7.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted the country on April 25, 2015. Almost 80% of the houses were destroyed where most of the  people lost their lives. Steep mountains and Narrow roads in Bhotsipa have drastically slowed rescue efforts.

 JAFS/AFS-Nepal Team travelled in May to Bhotsipa for emergency response for delivering Basic needs for the villagers like Rice, Dal, Sugar, Tea, Salt,Oil, Some initial medicines and also some sanitary equipment like Soap, Brush, Mask, Towel and so on.. Emergency phase response was continuously held for five days at five different VDCs of Bhotsipa, Sindhupalchok District, Nepal.

Emergency Response in Chautara and Dhading

Early in the morning with our Emergency Team we headed towards Chautara and Batase VDC Ward No.8 on 27th may, 2015 along with the Relief Materials like mattresses, buckets with attached tap and mosquito net  altogether for 45 Families.

It is well known that Dhading is also one of the district where the most of the epicenter lies. So as our emergency response to the victims we the JAFS/AFS-Nepal team travelled to Dhading region on 29th May 2015 with Relief materials like Rice, Bucket with attached tap, Mosquito Net and Mattresses. We distributed 10,000 kgs of Rice to 500 families. They were so happy getting support from us in such bad situation.

Dharahara after the earthquake

On 25 April 2015, at 11:56 local time, a massive earthquake of 7.9 magnitude struck Nepal with the epicenter in Gorkha District. Over 8,000 people were killed and injured nearly three times as many. This quake compelled the citizen to live without the three most indispensable needs of our life i.e food, shelter and clothing as thousands of people were made homeless with the entire villages devastated, across many districts of the country.

The earthquake not only affected the Human lives but also brought negative changes in the Historical as well as Cultural Sites too. Centuries - old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts. It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal - Bihar Earthquake.

Blankets and Medicines Distribution at Sudal, Bhaktapur

Sudal is a village and Village Development Committee in Bhaktapur District in the Bagmati Zone of Central Nepal. JAFS / AFS - Nepal has been working in Sudal for last many years related with plantation programs, bio-gas, environment program, etc.

Houses destroyed by the earthquake

After the 25th April, 2015 Earthquake, we along with a Japanese volunteer went to Sudal early in the morning for the distribution on 27th April with 200 blankets and some medicines. The members of Nepal Red Cross Society were also present there and were supportive. People were very happy to receive those blankets. It went very well.
